Opera House
The Opera House was established in 1911 by Marshall Black, and could seat 500-700 patrons. Movies and operas were both enjoyed by its audiences. In 1923 Nate Evans purchased the Opera House and changed the name to the “Orpheum.” “Talkies” arrived in 1930. In 1947, the Orpheum closed and was replaced by the Acadia Theatre. In 2000, it was renamed the Al Whittle Theatre to honour the man who managed it for 47 years.
